Hydro Flask 32 oz Wide Mouth Review: Still the Bottle to Beat?
The Hydro Flask was once the default insulated bottle — then Stanley happened. We tested the 32 oz Wide Mouth for two months to see if it still earns a spot on your desk.
Our rating: 4.5/5
Beautifully made and bombproof, but Stanley and Owala now offer better value. The Flask is still our pick for travel.
Insulation Performance
Hot drinks stayed above 140°F for 8 hours. Iced water stayed cold for over 24 hours, with most of the ice intact past the 18-hour mark.
Build Quality
The TempShield™ powder coating resists scuffs even after being dropped on concrete. Stainless steel interior is taste-neutral and rust-proof.
Carry & Lid
The Flex Cap is leak-proof but tricky to one-hand. The wide mouth fits ice cubes but isn't great for sipping without a straw lid (sold separately).
Sustainability
Hydro Flask offsets 100% of their plastic footprint via Plastic Bank. The bottle is also BPA-free and lifetime-warrantied.
Pros
- 24+ hour cold retention
- Available in 20+ colors
- Lifetime warranty
- Bombproof powder coating
Cons
- Pricier than Stanley/Owala competitors
- Straw lid sold separately
- Wide-mouth opening prone to splash
Final Verdict
Beautifully made and bombproof, but Stanley and Owala now offer better value. The Flask is still our pick for travel. Whether it fits your budget and use case is the only question left.
