Ember Mug² 10oz Review: A $130 Mug? Hear Me Out
An app-controlled mug that keeps your coffee at exactly 135°F (or whatever temperature you choose) for 80 minutes. We tested if a $130 mug is genuinely useful or just a tech-bro flex.
Our rating: 4.3/5
Wildly indulgent and totally addictive. If you've ever cursed at a cold cup of coffee, the Ember will change your mornings.
How It Works
Battery-powered heater in the base maintains your set temperature. Wireless charging coaster keeps it topped up while sitting on your desk. Setup takes 30 seconds via the Ember app.
Temperature Control
Set anywhere from 120°F to 145°F in 1° increments. Coffee stays drinkably hot through a 90-minute meeting marathon — no more cold sips.
Battery Life
80 minutes off the coaster, then it cools naturally. We used it daily for 2 weeks with no charging issues thanks to the coaster sitting on the desk.
Build Quality
Stainless steel with a ceramic interior. Hand wash only (electronics in the base). Holds 10 oz — meaningfully smaller than a standard mug.
Pros
- Keeps coffee hot for 80 mins
- App-precise temperature
- Looks great on a desk
- Genuinely solves a real annoyance
Cons
- $130 is a lot for a mug
- 10 oz capacity is small
- Hand wash only
- Battery degrades over years
Final Verdict
Wildly indulgent and totally addictive. If you've ever cursed at a cold cup of coffee, the Ember will change your mornings. Whether it fits your budget and use case is the only question left.
